When green velvet headlands' shadows
hover,
And soothe the beach's afternoon to rest,
I can wander, a prisoner paroled,
My eyes watching the crests and pipeline quests,
My mind discarding placards of nightmares,
My feet washed by salt and wet sand's caress.
The sun, withdrawn and blind in the red west,
Can't see its pink reflection in the east,
And I can hide and sometimes smile inside,
'Tho I know I shall never be released.
And soothe the beach's afternoon to rest,
I can wander, a prisoner paroled,
My eyes watching the crests and pipeline quests,
My mind discarding placards of nightmares,
My feet washed by salt and wet sand's caress.
The sun, withdrawn and blind in the red west,
Can't see its pink reflection in the east,
And I can hide and sometimes smile inside,
'Tho I know I shall never be released.
