RISING

I watched stars stretch across mountainous skies,
Fizzing like champagne in bottomless seas,
Flooding blue bubbles that frothed through sweet streams,
Fanning me like the freshness of a breeze.
I burned while matchless rivals imaged flames,
Posturing fire and positioning,
Prancing the dances of the greedy crowd,
Prospecting sly and propositioning.
I hung jostled, jangled like broken chimes,
Dislocating all my present and past,
Destroying my chances at a future,
Dying deaths of regrets and years recast.
But now I laugh and even smile my grins
Knowing you're there as each new day begins.
